Shen Li Plaza

Qingdao, China. 1995.

The charachteristic visual elements of Qingdao, a city once in the hands of the Germans, are red roofs, beige walls, an abundance of greenery and the blue sea. The design of the Shen Li Plaza captures this spirit. Situated on a prime site on the sea front, this skyscraper was designed as a proud symbol and landmark for Qingdao. The building attempts to create vertical zones with shopping, offices, hotels and apartments, along with sensitively located open spaces also termed as “gardens in the sky.” The exterior finishes echo the schemes of Qingdao architecture.
