Mount Qing Long Proposal

Hangzhou, China. 1994.

This complex includes a spa and vacation homes situated by Hangzhou’s famed West Lake. The planning and design of this project was inspired by the picturesque depiction of a Tang Dynasty (8th century CE) poem of a lost village. Because these vacation houses are situated in an environment with a rich cultural heritage and surrounded by historical and native architecture, the design attempts to be sympathetic to the environment. Local building forms, colour, texture and materials prevail, as though this development had been a part of its surrounding for a long time.
